Drillmec - Rosneft: A Five Highly Mobile Rigs Contract

At the end of 2019, Drillmec landed a five highly mobile drilling rig full packages contract with Rosneft, Russia’s leader of the drilling industry and the world’s largest global public oil and gas corporation. The deployment of these rigs will increase number of Drillmec’s drilling and workover rigs working in this area to over 70 units.  

The five 225-ton hook load capacity rigs incorporate the latest drilling technologies, providing significant efficiencies and improvements in ops performance. These rigs are installed on heavy duty semitrailers designed to allow the transport of the whole rig unit in compliance with Russian road regulations, with no need for escort or permits.  

They are equipped with high performaning Drillmec components that include AC electric top drives, gear-driven single speed AC drawworks complete with feed-off system, cutting-edge autodriller system PLC based, cyber driller control cabin and two 1000hp AC triplex mud pumps.  

These special rigs are also fully heated and winterized to work up to -45°C (-49°F) and designed in compliance with applicable EAC/GOST standards.  

The first two units will operate on oilfields of RN-Yuganskneftegaz LLC, West Siberia, ready for rig up, while the other 3 rigs will be delivered within the next two months.   

The current state of the global market and industry poses serious challenges, making multi-country project management a necessity and an indispensable key for success for Drillmec.  

Over 80% of the current projects are being executed involving more than one Drillmec facility for the engineering and the manufacturing. This deal is a typical example of this type of projects and involves Drillmec Italy, Drillmec Russia and our Belarus factory Seismotekhnika to guarantee the maximum quality and efficiency along the project life cycle.
